How to Hygge the Danish Way

by Bjoerg Larsen March 13, 2017 1 Comment

In Denmark we like to ‘hygge’. When I was younger and still lived in Denmark my friends and I would often meet up an afternoon or and evening to ‘hygge’. But many people that are not from Denmark often ask me what ‘hygge’ is.

Hygge Normann Copenhagen

’Hygge’ is a Danish word and concept that essentially means quality of togetherness, quality of coziness and well-being. Hygge is not only about candles, pillows and blankets and a hot cup of tea. Sure, those items all play a big role when it comes to hygge, but hygge is mainly about who you’re with; your bestie, your sister or your friend you haven’t seen in a long time. There’s no reason not to explore the world of hygge - it’s an absolutely amazing atmosphere and state of mind to be in.

Love the ‘hygge’ sprinkled with a little ‘kos’ :-)
